Free photo privacy check

Photo privacy checker

See if a photo reveals your location, device, date or name before you share it. Nothing is uploaded.

  • GPS location
  • Device and serial
  • Names and dates

Inspect supported file records without editing the original.

What personal data can a photo reveal?

More than most people expect.

A phone photo can carry the exact GPS position, the time it was taken, the phone model and sometimes the owner’s name or a camera serial number.

This analyzer reads the file and shows only the privacy-related fields: location, device, owner, creator and dates. Everything else is left out so the risks are easy to see.

It is read-only. Use a remover afterwards for the fields you do not want to share.

Not necessarily. GPS coordinates in the file can point to the exact spot even if the picture shows nothing recognisable.

How do I stop my phone saving location in photos?

iPhone: Settings, Privacy & Security, Location Services, Camera, Never. Android: open the Camera app settings and turn off Location tags (the name varies by phone).

How do I remove the location?

Use Remove GPS from photo to drop location only, or the photo metadata remover for everything.
